[Progress.023] Excavation Done!

Our excavation finished yesterday, just before today's rain. As shown below, there was mud everywhere...

As our backyeard is higher, I have to stand on top of the brick fence at the front to have a better angle for the 2nd photo - with my umbrella in one hand, and camera in the other...
The cut at the back was indeed quite deep, hope the rain doesn't cause any damage.

The level at the left hand side is slightly lower, match it with the drawing above on my blog title and you can see that's where the garage will be located.

We also have 2 more signs added at the front:

And look at what happened to my poor little tree protection fence at the back. This is the 3rd time now, I wonder how many times I have to re-do this poor fellow until our construction finished...

So that's it for the excavation, and are we really ready for concrete piers? I remember seeing the other one built by Masterton (on my way to station) actually have the plumber to do the sewage connection before the slab. May be that's after the concrete piering? Don't know, let's wait and see...

Quickly check the weather forcast again. For next Monday, Google said it's "Sunny" & Yahoo said "Partly Cloudy", excellent!

I like this kind of pattern: sunny or cloudy from Monday to Thursday, a little rain on Friday, then another 2 sunny days for it to dry. Then we won't have too much rain or too dry, and my construction can continue without too much disruption, everyone is happy!

[Progress.022] Excavation will be finished today & piers on next Monday!!

Everything is moving really fast, a lot faster than we expected. Must be the email to the senior management that pushes everything ahead so quickly!

Wife just called, excavation almost done and will definitely finish today! WOW, that's quick.

Also received confirmation from builder that they will do the concrete piers on Monday and we need to take day off from work to be on-site. Yeah! We will have piers very soon!

Quickly checked weather forcast:
Tomorrow 3/8 Friday : showers - lucky we got the excavation done today!
4/8 Saturday: sunny
5/8 Sunday: partly cloudy
6/8 Monday: mostly sunny - excellent!

Getting really excited...

[Progress.021] Excavation started!

When I walked past our construction site on my way to train station this morning, I noticed this huge truck parked across the street. I have a feeling that something must be happening. I quickly take out my mobile to take some photos...

The gates were removed, 2 trades person are discussing something next to a big bobcat (is that the correct name of these machines?). Yes! They have started the excavation!

From the last picture, you can see there's actually another smaller machine in green colour at the back. They are doing some earth work at the moment, can clearly see some cutting been done.

Need to rush to work, so that's all I got this morning. The quality of the 1.3M camera on my mobile is definitely not as good as a proper camera. Will try to take a few more proper photos with my camera and post it here very soon, keep watching this space!!
