[Progress.038] More tiger tails, and a few other stuffs

The rain has been on and off for the past few days, so there wasn't much progress today, except the tiger tails.
As requested by the site supervisor, we added some more tiger tails today, another unplanned expense... There used to be 6 (3 pairs) of them, now we have extra 8, total of 14 installed as 7 pairs...

The entrance was very muddy, we discussed with site supervisor and he agreed to order some gravels very soon. There's another site building with Masterton near our area, they have lots of gravels in the entrance and it looks much better than ours.

I think these boards are the flooring boards for 1st floor. With the yellow tongue thing they can be joined together easily.

This is a closer look of the beams to support the flooring boards.

This is the right hand site of the house, can vaguely see the windows spaces at the back. They might look the same to you but we are already matching it against our drawings and start seeing the shapes of each area been created like a big LEGO puzzle. And yes, how can I forget the damaged frame for the front bay window...

This one is the other side, for the areas behind garage.

A closer look of the seweage pipe, looks ok to me, but wife quite concern about the status about the pipe below. Hopefully after the gravels added it will be much better.

A closer look of the steel beams. There are about 8 of them, don't know why we need so many of them.

I think the 8 (4 pairs) of them shown here with 2 big screws are the stand for supporting the beams. But if there are 8 steel beams, and 4 pairs of stands, how are the other 4 going to be supported?? By timber frames?

Saw this bottle on the ground, labelled as "Iplex Pink Priming Fluid". Found this web page talking about "Iplex priming fluid must always be used when making solvent weld joints. It is generally coloured pink for identification although clear is also available." I read it a few times but still don't quite understand what is it talking about...

[Progress.018] Tiger Tails Installed!

I got good news and bad news.

First, the good one: we finally have the tiger tails installed, yeah!

This one from a different angle. Sorry if it looks a bit unclear, as it was early in the morning on a cloudy day...

Bad news is, it started to rain again !&#^@%#^~$#$!%!~!@

[Progress.015] Sign is Up, Taiger Tail to be Installed Next Week, Tree Protection Fence Fixed

Sign is Up
As shown below, our builder setup a sign on our block a few days ago. We are all very exciting although it has been quite frustrating in the past few weeks due to continous bad weather.

Taiger Tail to be Installed Next Week
We have electrician Frank on site this afternoon to inspect the neighbour's power cable for tiger tail installation. Hopefully he will have everything ready some time next week.

Neighbour's Backyard
We found that the other neighbour's landscaper only has time to finish the excavation before our builder blocked the whole site with fences. As shown below, they still have plenty of soils all over the places. We have given them 5 weeks since end of May and they still can't finish their work. Probably not much choice but to remove them manually without using any bigger machines/trucks.

[Progress.011] Contract signed!

After 2.5 hours long discussion with the contract person at my builder's office, we finally signed the contract and made first payment (5% contract price minus previously paid deposits for council application). Never sign/initial my name so many times in a day in my whole life. Also clarified the requirement for the tiger tail thing. According to the contract person, it's mainly for the scaffolding. Will try to get that done asap.

If weather permits, we should have the excavation started in 3 weeks time. Yeah!

[Progress.010] Tiger Tail and final construction set drawing received

Tiger Tail
This is not about animals in the zoo :-), it's about our neighbour's power line that run across our property.

Found some explaination from the web:
tiger tails means pipe type cable covers, used as a warning to visually indicate the position of overhead power lines. Note: A tiger tail is also known as a torapoli pipe.

The builder wants us to "tiger tail tag" the neighbour's power line. Got a quote from an electrician for $2,500, which is ridiculously high. Will shop around for a few other quotes.

Update:
Found these 2 pictures from Work Near Overhead Power Lines: Code of Practice(PDF, about 1MB):

"final" final construction set of drawings received
Received the "final" final construction set of drawings from builder yesterday. All questions and issues we raised all sorted out except the ensuite door can't be changed to sliding door due to the way the shower pipes are connected.

Booked for final meeting next Tuesday and we are ready to sign the contract, Yeah!
