[PropertyInfo.029] What was your property worth 20 years ago?

We received this mail from local real estate agent Bruce Lyon today with some very attractive information. As shown below, it listed 4 local properties and compared the sold price from 1987, 1997 to 2007.

The first one in Beecroft has the biggest increase in 20 years: from $158K to $1.1M. Wonder what you think about this information but one thing is for sure: if you can hold on long enough, you certainly going to get a huge return on properties!

Hi there,
we are in the process of building too and waiting for quotes from Allcastle and Masterton so your blog has been really helpful and quite detailed. Was just wondering if you did your tiling yourself or did you get allcastle to do it? We are thinking of doing the carpeting ourself but tiling we're not too sure...

house is looking great btw!

Hi foxfire, our builder covers the tiling for 3 bathrooms & laundry only, the rest is done by our own tiler. We are not quite happy about quality of the tiler our builder used (C&L) and won't recommend you to use them at all. If we have the chance to build again, we will still go with the same builder, BUT we will cancel the kitchen, bathroom, laundry and do it through our own trades person.

thanks Allan, we will prob do our tiling ourselves too but not on the areas the builder does. I guess we'll just live with it! our issue is our land is on a main road with no stopping in front so masterton have quoted almost 10K for traffic control and double handling... ouch... i am sure there will be more surprises along the way! thanks for the info.

yes, you get surprises everyday during the construction process... We have moved in for a few weeks and still getting surprises... leaking bath tub, kitchen sink...etc. Yes, it's fixed now, but a bit annoying when you see water dripping from ceiling on to your brand new timber floor...
