I thought there won't be any progress in the past few days due to continuous rain. But according to our builder, the carpenter was on-site yesterday and should have some progress with the frames. Will check our site again during the "thanks to APEC" long weekend.
They also mentioned as there were quite a lot of electrical wires at the front of our site, they will need to hire a crane to drop the frames for 1st floor on top of the existing ones. Well, since they have inspected the site so many times, if cranes are required then just do it!

[BlogSite.020] Added "Snap Shots" and "BabelFish" to the site
Snap Shots
Just let you know that I have added this little widget called "Snap Shots" to the site. With this widget you can now move your mouse cursor on to any external links and it will automatically pre-load the site and show it in a small popup window for you to preview. You can then decide whether to click on it or not. I am testing the different options/settings, so please let me know if you have any suggestions/opinions.

I have also added "BableFish" from AltaVista to the navigation bar. You can now translate the page content into a few different languages. Have a try, it's quite interesting!

[Tips.014] Down pipe and external light at the same location
Thanks to vanderlay from homeone.com.au forum, we now have one more thing to check during your drawing/sketching stage with your builder.
As shown in photo below, you can see the white wire for an external feature light. But right on top, there was a square connector from the gutter -- that's for the down pipe!
This means if the electrician installed the light first, the plumber won't be able to install the down pipe. Similarly if the plumber puts in the down pipe first, the electrician can't install the light!
Another example of builder mistakes... I guess it's because the gutter/down pipes are done in separate drawings from the electrical one, and whoever did the drawings didn't do a proper cross checking.
Luckily, vanderlay's builder agreed to get the down pipe relocated to fix the problem. But that's definitely an unnecessary delay no one wants to have during any construction. So if you are building a new house, make sure you cross check all the different drawings for possible issues like this!

[Progress.041] Some beams setup, more gravels, damaged frame replaced
We have 2 trades person on-site yesterday, and they told me they will be working on the frames. I thought they will setup the frames for 1st floor, when I checked it this morning, the frames seems remaining the same. As shown below, there are actually some changes - some of the orange beams are been installed.
Also, the other day the gravels were only up to the gates. Now it's all the way up to the slabs.
Another achievement is we can now clearly see the damaged frame has been replaced. But why do they leave the damaged timber at the front is beyond me, is that to prove that they have done the work??
The other thing I don't quite understand is, why would they leave this big steel beam above the garage doors on top of 2 small timber. Looks quite dangerous to me... Or are they trying to show everyone how strong the frame timbers are??
I have a closer look yesterday morning, the big window been left at the front the other day was actually the sliding door.
